You find the course program and a free preview of every lesson on this website. I consider it an improved version of Glossika. My intent was to keep the method and fix those flaws. I made it so I'm biased, but you can still check out the free preview on my website and judge for yourself. Only if you study Italian, I can recommend "Ripeti con me!". However, I still don't know of any valid alternative.
All the language courses I tried shared flaws in speech rate (way too fast!), pronunciation, mismatch in the sentence meaning, and complicated study schedule. On the other hand, Glossika's implementation of the method in the form of an audio course is far from being perfect. It just takes a couple of weeks before you fully appreciate the effects. Since in order to learn a language speaking is paramount, that's a very sound method. You're prompted to speak in your target language 30 minutes a day, every day. While the method is so simple that you might doubt about it efficacy, I can assure you that it works. You get to think in your target language without translating in your mind. I've used Glossika audio course (not the app) to learn a few of the 10 languages I studied and I'm very satisfied with the results. The new method may generate more profit to the company, but for customers it will leave a dent in their pocket !

Without internet its hard to access website, even though it has offline method, which may not work all the time.įINAL VERDICT - I prefer the old Glossika with books and audio files. You are not sure the meaning of word unless you use a dictionary, which is additional workload. Lack of explanations which makes bit hard in case if you encounter 2 new words in a single sentence. We always associate learning with books, so lack of book makes learning somewhat not natural. Lack of physical book to make some notes. which is a drawback, because if you are under a bit of time crunch to learn a language within 3 months / 6 months, you will not get all sentences within this period. The algorithm only assigns few random sentences based on your fluency and learning phase. You will not get access to all sentences in database for a language. Very expensive subscription especially for people who are from Non-US countries / Asia, where a single dollar is equivalent to an arm and a leg ! What was interesting to me is that the recall on that vocabulary was instant-no pausing and digging around my brain for it.Īnyway, I don’t think think that experience was enough to justify shelling out 30 dollars a month to continue the service, but it does tell me that if Glossika were to drop its rates to a reasonable 10 a month it would be worth looking into by anyone who wants to improve pronunciation or wants to make their commute more productive.ġ.Unlimited access to all languages including some exotic languages. But then last night I was talking with a new iTalki tutor, and it turns out she also works with the elderly in a retirement home-a subject of two Glossika sentences. I cancelld the subscription and stopped altogether. It was also easy to then drop the sentences into Anki for future review.Īnyway, after digging through the internet I couldn’t find any hard evidence that the Glossika model worked or was effective. Starting it up and just grinding through the sentences was perfect for the car since once you “get’ the sentences running through 20-25 minutes of review is very mechanical. You repeat sentence after sentence after sentence until you can knee jerk spit out the line without thinking.įor me, the biggest advantage of Glossika was that I could easily work it into my commute. The other problem is that it’s kind of boring. Thirty dollars a month to use a web app just didn’t make sense to me considering for that price I could pay for LingQ, Clozemaster, and several other services for that price. After two months of using Glossika daily I cancelled my subscription.
